A guide to choosing printed cotton outfits

Choosing a printed cotton outfit? Use this guide to explore options for different occasions and check fit and garment details before you buy. Odhanon brings Indian hand-block-print craft into contemporary clothing and accessories.

How do I choose an outfit for everyday wear, work, social occasions or travel?

Everyday wear

Start with the shape you enjoy wearing and the coverage you need. Browse dresses for a single-garment outfit, co-ord sets for a coordinated look, or tops and bottoms to build your own combination. Check necklines, straps, waist construction and garment measurements before deciding.

The Floral Cotton Slip Dress features cotton fabric with blue and grey hand-block-printed floral motifs, an A-line silhouette and adjustable shoulder straps. Its listing describes a midi length. Consider where you want the hem to fall, rather than relying on the length label alone.

Work

Choose around your workplace's dress expectations, commute and daily movement. When browsing dresses, tops and bottoms, consider sleeve and neckline coverage, opacity, comfort when seated and your preferred hem position. Look for product information that answers these questions, and ask for clarification before buying if a detail matters to you.

Social occasions

For brunch or a relaxed gathering, compare the neckline, silhouette and amount of print you want. The Casual Cotton Midi Dress is described as 100% cotton in sage green with pink and green botanical hand-block prints. It has adjustable spaghetti straps, a V-neckline and an A-line silhouette. As a styling suggestion, pair it with sandals and accessories you already enjoy wearing.

Travel

Think about your itinerary, the coverage you want and the care facilities available. Compare a dress for a single-garment look with a co-ord set whose pieces can be styled separately. Check care instructions before packing; do not assume a cotton or printed garment is crease-resistant, quick-drying or machine washable.

Should I choose a printed dress or a co-ord set?

A dress gives you a single garment to style. A co-ord set gives you matching pieces, with additional styling possibilities where the product details confirm that the pieces can be worn separately. Compare the shape and measurements of each option, not just the size label.

A cotton dress with adjustable straps

The Casual Cotton Midi Dress combines 100% cotton and botanical hand-block printing with an A-line silhouette, adjustable spaghetti straps and a V-neckline. Choose it if those design features match the look you want, and check current sizing and garment details before ordering.

A floral cotton slip dress

The Floral Cotton Slip Dress offers blue and grey floral hand-block printing, cotton fabric, an A-line silhouette and adjustable shoulder straps. The listing describes a midi length; ask for an exact measurement if hem position is important to your choice.

A coordinated alternative with separate-piece styling

The Green Floral Co-ord Set has a soft green base with a floral print, a crop top and matching wide-leg pants. Its listing confirms that the pieces can be worn together or mixed with other wardrobe favourites. As a styling suggestion, try the top with a plain bottom or the pants with a plain top you already own.

This is a printed co-ord alternative, not a verified cotton or hand-block-printed example. If fabric composition or printing technique is central to your purchase, confirm those details before ordering.

How do I check my size when buying online?

Use sizing information applicable to the exact product. Do not assume that the same size label has identical measurements across styles. If a size chart is provided, check whether it describes body measurements or finished-garment measurements before comparing numbers. These are not interchangeable.

If the chart's measurement basis, size-label mapping or measuring method is unclear, ask for clarification before ordering. For co-ord sets, check the fit of both the top and the bottom rather than assuming that one measurement settles the choice.

How can I tell where a dress, top or pair of pants will finish?

Descriptions such as mini, midi, cropped and wide-leg describe a style, but they do not replace measurements. Your height and proportions affect where a hem falls.

Where exact garment lengths are supplied, compare them with a similar item you already own using the same measuring method. If a measurement is missing, ask for it and confirm its starting point. For adjustable-strap dresses, ask how strap adjustment affects the stated length. For pants, distinguish the full outside length from the inseam.

Which product details should I review before buying?

Review the fabric composition, print or craft technique, silhouette, fit, garment length, sizing information and care instructions for the specific item. For a set, check which pieces are included. Check current size availability on the product page rather than treating a listed size range as a guarantee of stock.

Do not assume all printed pieces are hand-block printed, all cotton-labelled pieces have the same composition, or every garment shares the same washing instructions. Follow the confirmed care guidance for the item you choose. The example product listings also note that colours may vary slightly from their images.

Who We Are?

Founded in 2023, Odhanon was born from a shared instinct — to reimagine Indian craftsmanship for the modern woman.

What began as an exploration into hand block printed scrunchies soon revealed something larger: a gap between traditional Indian prints and contemporary western silhouettes. While hand block printing was often confined to ethnic wear, we saw its potential elsewhere — in structured dresses, sharp co-ords, chic everyday pieces.

With a background in Fashion Design and Merchandising from NIFT, Vaishali Sahu and Prithvi Ujjwal (Founders) brought together design sensibility and market insight to create something intentional — not trend-driven noise, but distinct identity.

Odhanon emerged as a contemporary label that gives Indian prints a western voice.

What We Make

Our silhouettes are deliberate: both relaxed and sharply defined, because a woman’s wardrobe must hold more than one mood. Some days need ease, others demand structure.

We work primarily with 100% cotton for its breathability and comfort, and choose hand block-printed fabrics for their character. Subtle irregularities are not flaws but the mark of the human hand, ensuring no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

From pocket depth to corset firmness, from linings to seam finishes, every small choice is considered. These details quietly decide how a garment feels after hours of wear.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reinterpret hand block printed cotton through contemporary silhouettes that feel intentional, wearable, and enduring.

We design for women across roles and routines — not defined by age, profession, or stage of life — but by individuality. Our mission is to create garments that enable self-expression without discomfort, where structure meets ease and statement meets breathability.

We are committed to thoughtful evolution. Expanding size inclusivity. Exploring new silhouettes. Refining prints. Advancing fabric development. Because growth, for us, is deliberate — not reactive.

Every piece we create aims to balance craftsmanship with modern relevance, offering clothing that feels considered, comfortable, and confidently distinct.

Our Vision

Our vision is to redefine how Indian prints are worn — moving them beyond occasion and tradition into everyday contemporary silhouettes. To make craftsmanship relevant, wearable, and quietly powerful.

We are committed to creating pieces that are responsibly made, thoughtfully designed, and built to last — contributing to a slower, more conscious fashion culture.

Odhanon exists for women who choose with intention — who notice fabric, value fit, and appreciate detail. Women who seek beauty without excess, expression without noise.

Through Odhanon, we hope to shape a community of women who stand out not because they are loud — but because they are certain.
